Abstract:

Currently, the correction of the lips and face with fillers is becoming more and more relevant. The filler is used to change the shape of the lips and face, increase volume and eliminate defects (the so-called cleft lip, scars, etc.). Hyaluronic acid, a sulfide-free glycosaminoglycan, which is part of the connective tissue and biological fluids, can be obtained by biotechnical synthesis, which is used to solve the problems of contouring when correcting the face with fillers. Recently, there has been an increase in the number of patients who received injections of vitamins A and E instead of fillers. Some interesting cases of complications associated with this wrong method will be discussed here. Case 1. A 42-year-old woman, wrinkles on her forehead were eliminated by an injection of 2 ml of vitamin E. Severe pain, swelling and redness, fever, stiffness at the injection sites were expressed tree days after injection. Case 2. 48-year-old lady, correction of wrinkles between the eyebrows was carried out by injection of 1 ml of vitamin E. Severe pain, swelling and redness of the forehead began four days after the injection.Case 3. 18-year-old girl, lip augmentation with vitamin A injection. As a result, swollen lips and severe pain when talking and eating. The patient came to the clinic after several days of unsuccessful home treatment. Case 4. 17-year-old girl, lip augmentation with vitamin A injection. The patient complained of itching, discomfort when closing her mouth, in addition, it was difficult for her to speak. In all of the above cases, patients were unaware of the complications that the procedures might cause. The procedures were carried out at home by people without special knowledge. We used anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antihistamines and appropriate topical treatments, which allowed us to get a noticeable improvement in just a few days. Informing the public about the possible complications of unproven methods of face correction, in non-clinical environment, is of great importance for the prevention of complications of injections of vitamins A and E.
