Abstract:

Fungal infections have emerged as serious complications for patients recovering from COVID-19. Currently, fungal infections have become a clinical threat, with significant associated mortality and morbidity. This is mainly due to the development of fungal resistance to the existing antifungal agents. The influence of post COVID-19 has increased fungal infection susceptibility due to its impact on the immune system. Additionally, treatments for COVID-19 (like steroids and other drugs) have also weaken the defenses system against fungi. The most commonly reported infections include: aspergillosis, candidiasis, and mucormycosis (black fungus). This study focuses on understanding the invasive fungal infections linked to post COVID-19 patients. The research has also highlighted the important clinical aspects related to plant products, their uses, prevention and damage control against fungal infections. Further research on this field can provide us with increased number of options in understanding fungal diseases that will give the patients with a better quality of life.
