The use of anesthesia is well known in medical field to alleviate the pain during interventions.There are many types of that includes but not limited to: local and general anesthesia. Local anesthesia ifused in an injection form, can cause pain during the injection. General anesthesia is not preferred forminimal procedures. Can topical anesthesia be used before injection of the anesthetic agent? And if theanswer is yes, why it is not commonly used in Dentistry of children?. Furthermore, is the local anestheticinjection really needed in pediatric dental procedures, or are there limited teeth interventions that indicatethat. What is the efficacy of nitrous oxide in pain reduction, and can it be used alone, or should otherapproaches be added as topical or injectable anesthetics? Are the advantages of general anesthesiaoutweigh the risk or vice versa, and when exactly it is recommended?This presentation aims to help in clarifying those points, and providing what is known in scienceand literature in this regard.
